Signs of Stroke and TIAs: When each second counts, don't wait.
Make it your mission to fight heart disease! February is National Heart Month. Stroke is the No. 3 cause of death in America and is a major cause of severe, long-term disability. Stroke and TIA (transient ischemic attack) happen when a blood vessel feeding the brain gets clogged or bursts.
Signs of Stroke and TIAs
- Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
- Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
- Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
- Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
- Sudden severe headache with no known cause
If you experience these symptoms, call 911 immediately.
New look at Avera St. Luke's Hospital
Our west lobby now features a new curved welcome desk and beautiful stained glass. Improved lighting, stone and wood work, a cashier’s office and other changes are part of a continuing three-phase lobby remodeling project. More improvements are on the way!
